Senior Year So Far

Here's a recap of everything that has happened so far... It's a little long, just to warn you...

I had my first day of school...

 (this is more just to show my outfit. I seriously love this and can't wait to re-wear it in the spring!)

SENIOR ROCK

Signed the Senior Rock...

We have a rock out in front of the football stadium that is repainted each year for the seniors to sign.

All the seniors spend lunchtime hanging out and trying to find a space for their name...

SPIRIT WEEK

I dressed up for Spirit Week!

above was "throwback day", I was Ms. Pacman

I was "fancy"/a personal shopper/wealthy for "when I grow up" day.

 This was "tacky prom day".

Then last but not least, for "superhero day" I was Captain America!

After Spirit Week came
 POWDERPUFF!!!

Instead of being typical powderpuff cheerleaders, the senior guys dubbed themselves the 

"Powder Rangers".

In the beginning of their half-time routine they played the Power Rangers theme song and ran out in their best ninja impressions... It was hilarious!

Also at half-time, we crowned/knighted our Homecoming King. After being crowned he takes a lap around the track in a golf cart.

That's all, or at least most of, the seniors.

Powderpuff was so much fun! It was a close game, but the seniors pulled out a win in the end with a field goal!

After the game, we had a senior bonfire, with pizza, popcorn, and s'mores! 

FOOTBALL/ BASKET GAMES

I've also been showing my school spirit and going to football/basketball games!

This year I'm secretary of the Castle Crazies (our school spirit club), so I helped out with planning all the themes for home games!

STATE FAIR

I also went to the NC State Fair!

I am unashamed to say I ate an entire turkey leg on my own...

plus had some fried oreos... 

and icecream...

and fried pickles...

and maybe a few more things...

don't judge.

Senior Trip:

New York

 The seniors at my school go to New York in the fall.

It's a long bus ride...but it is well worth that drive!

Our first day there, we went to Chinatown and Macy's to do some shopping...

and more shopping...

(It's really more like browsing.)

We also toured the Empire State Building!

 We also took a monster boat tour (I think that's what it's called...?) to see the Statue of Liberty.

We went to two plays: Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera

(it was my third time seeing Wicked, which was fabulous as always, and my first time for Phantom. It was more intense than I expected it to be. Wicked and Phantom are in completely separate categories-they're incomparable in my opinion. If I had to pick one, I guess Wicked was my favorite because it is light and funny and peppy. 

Overall, I loved both plays though! I highly recommend you see both!

I demanded that during our free time we (my friends) had to go to Dillan's Candy Bar! It's such a funky store, and they have lots of different candies and chocolates!

(obviously I came back with a T-shirt and some chocolate bars for my family)

We also went to the Central Park.

 And the Plaza...

(fyi their food-court is AMAZING!)




PHILLY

On the ride back to Raleigh, we stopped in Philly and went to see the Liberty Bell!

I had such a great time with all the seniors, I wish we could go back again.

It was definitely one of the highlights of my senior year!

Also, I have applied to colleges...

Had senior pictures taken...

I hosted my annual Christmas Cookie Exchange

I baked... a lot...for my friends.

( maple-leaf maple shortbread cookie sandwiches and a cake-in-a-can)

Helped throw a surprise birthday party for my friend!

(And I baked the cake)

VALOGRAMS

My school has a senior fundraiser called Valograms. Parents/students/whoever can purchase any or a combo of a flower, bag of candy, and a song for a student. It's the seniors' job to spend Valentine's Day passing all the Valograms out (and singing the songs!)

It is such a fun day especially because seniors don't have to go to class and everyone gets dressed up.

We knock on classroom doors, go in a sing and deliver Valentine's.

I love going into the elementary rooms the most.

YAG

Also, I went to YAG.

It's the YMCA Youth and Government conference in North Carolina held in downtown Raleigh. Our school has a large delegation that goes every year, and we have had one of ours be elected Governor (which is the leader of the conference) for three consecutive years!

YAG is a fun weekend where everyone learns more about how the government works and also a place to meet new people from across the state! You can sign up for lots of different positions; I was a Senator this year. I sat in chambers and debated with other senators about different bills (we all write bills and only some of them make it to conference).

 There is a Friday fun night (with a theme to dress up for, a DJ - this year they had a section of poker and blackjack tables!) and a Saturday Gala (which is where everyone dresses up and eats a nice three course meal, and again there is a DJ/band)

Overall, my senior year has gone by so fast so far.

I can't believe it's already the end of February!!

I have heard back from several schools, and as of right now I'm thinking I will be attending UNC Chapel Hill next year... I am waiting to make the official decision until a little later though!

Also, soccer season has started and am one of three captains!
Hopefully we will have a great year and will make it to the playoffs in May!

Also, I realize I skipped the Holidays... and my Birthday!!

I am planning on blogging about those separately- well, at least for my birthday... we went to this AWESOME restaurant called Chef and the Farmer in Kinston, NC!

Suffice it to say (for now at least) that I have had a great year filled with lots of memories!
